From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A Society or a human society is a group of people related to each other through persistent relations such as social status, roles and social networks. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Without an article, the term refers either to the entirety of humanity or a contextually implicit subset. Used in the sense of an association, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Like other groupings, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone. independent of, and utterly irreducible to, the qualities of constituent individuals; it may act to oppress. The urbanization and rationalization inherent in some, particularly Western capitalist, societies, has been associated with feelings of isolation and social "anomie". More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony. From Wikipedia under the

I've researched maternity wear for the 1930s but I seem to find only middle-class homemaker maternity clothes. Can you help me find images for a high society pregnant woman? If anyone has a link to maternity fashions for high society women in the late 30s, that would be most helpful. Q. Throughout Earth's history, the magnetic poles have periodically flipped, i.e. magnetic north goes to the South Pole and magnetic south goes to the North Pole. I read that we will soon be passing through the plane of rotation for the Milky Way, and I hypothesize this might trigger our poles to flip. What kind of effect could this have on our society, considering are increasing reliance on electronic devices? Asked by Mercer Devil - Tue May 13 02:56:37 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, first of all the Earth's magnetism will o to zero before flipping. This will mean complete depletion of the ozone layer, and cosmic rays will pass right through the atmosphere. The moment you step out of the house, you will look like "an overcooked pizza" to quote Bill Bryson. The Earth's magnetism does flip once every 500 million years or so, but there are enough lucky survivors to prevent extinctions. Q. Is a civilized society more expensive to run than an uncivilized society? Asked by jesswzmn - Fri Dec 19 23:25:42 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is too fluid of a question. everything has its equilibrium. You could have an uncivilized, war-like society and it could be very expensive to run a Alexandrian sized war machine.
